New Electrical Systems — Frankfort, KY — AE Electrical Solutions

Wild Turkey (Campari) Bottling & Packaging Facility: Lawrenceburg, Kentucky

Date Completed: 2013

After successfully completing the electrical installation for Wild Turkey's new distillery in 2010, Art's was selected as the electrical contractor for Wild Turkey's new Bottling & Packaging Building. This twelve month project included Civil/Site, General Construction and Process Electrical packages. Art's worked closely with The Dennis Group, who were the design firm and construction managers selected for the project.

Project Highlights:

  • Extensive Class 1 Division 1 explosion-proof wiring installation.
  • Installation areas requiring corrosion-resistant materials using PVC coated & stainless steel materials.
  • Complete responsibility for all electrical systems to include 15KV power, controls, data, instrumentation, security, temperature control and fire alarm systems.
  • Art's assisted The Dennis Group in the design and layout for the process electrical and instrumentation installations.

Child Care Facility at Lexmark: Lexington, Kentucky

Date Completed: 2013

Art's Electric won this project from a select number of electrical contractors invited to bid the project. Art's worked under Denham & Blythe, who were the general contractors awarded this project built on the Lexmark campus.

Project Highlights:

  • Installation of a comprehensive lighting control system interfaced with occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting, solar tubes and window shades.
  • Extensive use of the latest dimmable LED lighting fixtures.
  • Condensed construction duration, which required close coordination among all trades for a phased area-by-area completion schedule.

Wild Turkey New Distillery, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky 

Date Completed: 2011

Based on a long-standing working relationship at the Wild Turkey Distillery, Art's Electric was invited to bid the first phase of this new distillery project. After being awarded the initial contract of $1.18 million, Art's worked with the owner's engineers and contract engineering company to complete additional phases of this overall $50 million dollar, 134,000 square foot project. Art's was able to offer over $200,000.00 in savings by offering value-engineering cost reductions.

  • This brand new distillery more than doubled the capacity for making Wild Turkey bourbon, going from 5 million proof gallons per year to 11 million gallons per year.
  • Complete responsibility for all electrical systems to include power, controls, data, instrumentation and fire alarm systems.
  • On-site project management team assisted in the design and layout for the electrical and instrumentation installations.

Lexus Dealership, Lexington, Kentucky 

Date Completed: 2010 

The Lexus dealership, after operating for a number of years at its Nicholasville Road location, wanted to move to a more centrally located position in the city of Lexington. After successfully completing several new and expanded automobile dealership projects, Art's once again teamed with Stephen D. Prater Builders on this new facility for Lexus.

Project Highlights:

  • Working with the electrical engineering design firm to value engineer the electrical installation to meet the owner's budget.
  • Complete responsibility for the voice, data, and security camera, access and fire alarm systems.
  • State-of-the-art interior and exterior lighting systems utilizing LED lighting and network lighting control system.

Messier Bugatti, Richwood, Kentucky  

Date Completed: 2008

In continuing a long-standing relationship between Art's Electric and Messier Bugatti, an aircraft brake manufacturer located in northern Kentucky, we were requested to partner with Denham and Blythe for this major plant expansion.

Project Highlights:

  • Complete design-build responsibility for all electrical systems.
  • Installation and design of voice, data, security and fire alarm systems.
  • Double-ended (2) 3,000 amp switch gears with tie-breaker.
  • Emergency generator and UPS system.

International Crankshaft, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date Completed: 2008

Art's multi-year, multi-project relationship with ICI was the reason it was selected for this major plant expansion. Having completed complex, demanding and fast-paced installations over the years, ICI felt comfortable that Art's Electric could handle the demands that this project would place on them. The project consisted of both building expansions and new equipment line installations.

Project Highlights:

  • 15 KV 1,200 amp overhead to underground incoming feeder system.
  • (1) 10,000 KVA, 4160 volt and (2) 3,000 KVA 480 volt outdoor transformers.
  • 10 man crew for two years on the building expansion, plus a 20 man crew working sixty to seventy hours a week during the equipment installation phase.
  • Worked with the owner and multiple vendors to coordinate equipment and process installations.

Meggitt Systems (ABSKY), Danville, Kentucky 

Date Completed: 2007

After being pre-selected to bid on this major plant expansion Art's won the electrical subcontract with The Austin Company based in Cleveland, Ohio. Art's installed the high-voltage distribution system utilizing the owner's pre-purchased equipment. In addition, Art's installed the building power and lighting systems up to the point of the equipment vendor's responsibility.

Project Highlights:

  • (2) 15 KV services with tie-switch.
  • (10) 5 KV switches and feeders to 4,140 volt furnaces.
  • Extensive outdoor 15 KV and 5 KV sub-station installation.
  • Armored cable and cable tray installation to process equipment.

Montaplast - Manufacturing Addition, Frankfort, Kentucky 

Date Completed: 2006

Art's long standing relationship with Montaplast resulted in our selection to perform the electrical installation for this major plant expansion under a subcontract with the James N. Gray Company.

Project Highlights:

  • Design-Build electrical contract for a 116,016 square foot building.
  •  Art's installed 500 feet of 36 inch by 36 inch pre-cast concrete utility trench duct, which allowed the local utility to move the 15KV overhead utility lines underground. This new re-enterable duct system affords Montaplast greater flexibility for future building expansion and growth.
  • Installation of two 4,000 amp 277/480 volt services and 680 feet of 4,000 amp copper busway.
  • Wiring of a Siemens “Instabus” lighting control system for all office lighting.

Kohls, Georgetown, Kentucky 

Date Completed: 2005

Art's was the successful bidder to the EMJ Corporation for the electrical installation of the new Kohl's department store located in Georgetown, Kentucky. This fast paced commercial project was a departure from the industrial work that Art's more frequently performs.

Project Highlights:

  • While most subcontractors worked regular overtime Art's was able to keep pace with the project while working a regular 40 hour work-week.
  • Installation of over 1,000 light fixtures.
  • Installation of a Building Automation System (BAS), which allows remote monitoring and control of the buildings lighting, HVAC and fire alarm systems.

Lexington Quarry: Lexington, Kentucky 

Date Completed: 2004

After successfully completing the underground portion of this quarry's rock handling upgrade project, Arts was contracted to perform the design, programming, and installation of the above ground contract.

Project Highlights:

  • Specifying, designing and installing the motor control centers, variable speed drives, programmable controller and control panels.
  • Automation of the control system requires less operator intervention.
  • Project increased production from 3,500 tons per day to over 7,000 tons per day.
  • Close coordination with the owner to limit plant down time to an absolute minimum.

Martek Biosciences: Winchester, Kentucky 

Date Completed: 2003

AMG, based in Dayton, Ohio selected Art's Electric to provide the electrical and instrumentation for a new Fermentation and Spray Dryer addition to the existing facility. Martek developed and now manufactures two products derived from microalgae. It's patented DHA and ARA are used as supplements to infant formula.

Project Highlights:

  • This fast track project necessitated a seven day, ten hour per day, work schedule.
  • Art's worked closely with the AMG Design Team to plan the installation of this complex process instrumentation project.
  • Installed an extensive Delta V Bus system, Foundation Field Bus, ASi Interface, Device-Net and fiber communication network.
  • Completed both electrical and pneumatic instrumentation installations.
  • This fast track project necessitated a seven day, ten hour per day, work schedule.

Chemical Lime Company: St. Genevieve, Missouri 

Date Completed: 1996

When originally constructed, this facility was the largest Greenfield Lime Calcinating plant in the world. Arts Electric partnered with Watkins and KVS to install complete power, control, alarm and fiber-optic wiring systems.

Project Highlights:

  • Rock crusher, stone conveyor and washing systems.
  • Two, 1,200 ton per day rotary kilns and pre-heaters.
  • Finished product-handling system consisting of 8-250 foot tall silos.
  • Over a mile of conveyors from the rock crusher to the river barge loading system.
  • 13.2KV outdoor power distribution system.
  • 5 - 1,500KVA pad-mount transformers and 5KV distribution switchgear.
